l purchased two of these planters and placed them on my upper deck of my porch off the kitchen to plant vegetables since I could not do so on the lower level of the home because groundhogs and rabbits would feast on my plantings. Not expecting much, I had hoped to grow a two pickling cucumber plants, one grape tomato plant, and one Japanese eggplant. Well, to my amazement the bounty of produce that I received just off those few plants was astounding! The cucumbers climbed the trellis in the back of the planters and were loaded with crisp cucumbers all summer. The grape tomato plant grew into a huge bush producing a handful of ripe sweet jewels daily. And the eggplant was equally lush and bountiful that I was giving produce away to neighbors. The planter/trellis product surpassed all my hopes for vegetable growing and I highly recommend them. I think buying at least two keeping them side by side makes for a substantial vegetable garden. The material used to make the planters is very sturdy and will hold heavy vines and plants tied to the trellis. I loved them so much, I purchased more to give as gifts to my relatives so that they can enjoy home grown produce and a healthy lifestyle too!

Calypso Planter Questions
We sometimes (not often) get 30 mph (even 50) gusts of wind. Would this product hold in this situations. Thanks!

Hi T.,
Good question! Two of the wheels lock to keep it stationary, but with significant wind there is a chance it would move. Although there are holes in the trellis, it will still catch winds that are that strong and would likely blow over. Adding weight or rocks to the bottom of the planter would helps well as staking it to the ground or securing it to a post or wall – but with that type of wind anything unanchored would likely blow over.
